An efficient way to integrate scales with mobile terminals!

A wide range of scales in various designs is available on the market, but their connectivity to other systems is very limited. Scales usually feature RS232 or LAN interfaces, which are difficult to use—especially with mobile terminals. Connecting an RS232 scale to the server side of an application requires long RS232 cables or various RS232‑over‑Ethernet converters and complex configuration. Some smarter—and often more expensive—scales have a LAN interface, but their setup and system integration—or pairing them with individual mobile devices—is again complicated.

What makes the QR indicator different?

Simplicity. You attach the QR indicator to any supported scale with an RS232 interface; it displays the current weight in a fixed format as a QR code, so you can easily scan it and your application can process it far more easily than if it had to read from various, differently connected scales. You can even switch between different scales each time without any complex setup.

What is it typically used for?

  • Weighing outgoing packages or pallets and goods weighing (e.g., to verify shipment completeness by weight),
  • weighing raw materials in production and, in general, any control weighings.

What is the QR indicator not intended for?

By its nature, it does not meet the legal requirements for use where weight determines price. Therefore, it cannot be used for commercial weighing in sales.

Which scales do we support?

We support RS232 scales from CAS, T‑scale, and Steinberg Systems. Support for additional scales will be added as requested by customers.

How is it connected?

Power Supply: The device is continuously powered via standard DC 5.5/2.1 connectors with center‑pin negative polarity and a nominal voltage of 5–24 V, and it is supplied with a connecting cable. Thus, you plug the scale’s power adapter into the QR indicator and then use the supplied cable to connect it to the scale. For scales with different power requirements, a separate power source must be used for the QR indicator. Data: The device normally connects via an RS232 cable just as it would to a PC. The cable for the specific scale type is not included in the package. Data Format: The QR code displays, in the case of a stable positive weight, the value in grams with a comma prefix; the weight occupies six digits, without decimal places. For example, for 12.56 kg.
