Start with the way the device will be used in the warehouse, the type of barcodes to be scanned, the required scanning range, device ruggedness and the preferred method of data entry. For standard goods receipt and dispatch, picking or inventory tasks, a mobile computer with a standard 2D scanner is usually sufficient. For specific applications, you can choose Long Range scanning, UHF RFID, a physical keypad or a pistol grip.

Standard range is suitable for everyday barcode scanning at close distances. Middle Range extends the working distance, while Long Range is designed for applications where barcodes need to be captured from significantly greater distances, for example from pallets or higher rack locations.

UHF RFID is particularly useful when you need to identify larger numbers of RFID-tagged items quickly. Typical applications include inventory, asset tracking, logistics and monitoring the movement of goods, because individual tags do not need to be aimed at one by one as with conventional barcodes.
